Academic Heritage & Stature
The Department of Economics at National Taipei University (NTPU) possesses an intellectual heritage spanning over seven decades. Founded in 1949 as the Department of Finance at the Taiwan Provincial College of Public Administration, the Department has evolved through pivotal stages, including the Taiwan Provincial College of Law and Business and the College of Law and Business at Chung Hsing University, before being formally established at National Taipei University in 2000.
Throughout its history, the Department has witnessed and participated in every critical milestone of Taiwan's economic development. Our research landscape has expanded from its early fiscal roots to a comprehensive spectrum of economic disciplines. Today, we offer a complete academic system comprising Undergraduate (including Extension Education), Master's, and Doctoral programs. We remain a cornerstone for cultivating the nation's economic policy-makers and leading academic researchers.
